New: Sea Glass Mini-Series

IMG_7326.jpg

Fresh off the easel is a mini-series inspired by the textures and colors of sea glass.

I wanted to revisit the basic practice of composition arrangement in this minimalist series, featuring shape, color, and transparency. There’s a 3D aspect to the shapes, as they are slightly raised off the wood, and some of the shapes have a matte finish, mimicking the texture of sea glass. The matte finish and translucency of the paint give an appearance of an encaustic wax application.

These five paintings were painted with acrylic on wood and each measure 8x10”. They are $65 each and can be accessed here in this link.

They have 1” painted edges, and look great either on their own or set within floater frames.

Water Currency

I just began this new series, “Currency”, which features genuine silver, copper and 23k gold leaf incorporated into paintings of water and waterfalls. As the source of life, water is unarguably the most valuable commodity in the world. Since precious metals contain intrinsic value, it felt only natural to incorporate metal, the world’s oldest form of currency, into paintings of water, the most valuable substance on earth. The luster shine of the metal represents the sparkle and glimmer of light captured on water. Additionally, the metals, particularly gold and copper, bring some needed warmth to balance the otherwise cool color palette.

These four 8x10” paintings are the first of the “Currency” series. These are available for purchase.
